Pearl Crisis Center has always had a goal to educate and advocate for the children in our community. In 2005, we created TADA (Teens Against Dating Abuse) and started teaching Safe Dates throughout the schools in our community. With these programs still active, we strive to lower the need for our services for the next generation. Our advocate, Haley, is specifically trained to advocate and support youth needing services through our agency.

TADA, or Teens Against Dating Abuse, is a group of teens dedicated to educating the community and preventing teen dating violence. Designed for youth ages 10-22. TADA also creates an open space for children experiencing or witnessing domestic violence to express themselves. Currently, TADA members receive text messages that are uplifting and educational multiple times a week. Those messages are sent, received, and facilitated by Haley, our youth advocate. TADA gives youth enrolled a private and safe way to message/talk to a trained DV/SA advocate. Just like all services through Pearl, these messages are completely confidential.

Pearl Crisis Center offers advocacy for all ages and has taken the time for specific staff to be trained more in the complexities that come with youth victims. We offer advocacy for the youth in our community dealing with teen dating violence, sexual assault, exposure to domestic violence, bullying, and many other circumstances.

Safe Dates is an evidence based prevention program for middle and high school students, which is designed to stop or prevent dating violence perpetration and victimization. Safe Dates curriculum was developed by Hazelden and written by Vangle Foshee, P.H.D., and Stacey Longwick, P.H.D. Since the implantation of this program in 2005, Pearl Crisis Center has taught 600 students per year on average. In 2025, that will equate to around 12,000 students receiving education about safe dating habits, health vs unhealth relationships, harmful gender roles, consent and many more topics that are crucial for preventing future victimization. This program is our most proactive step towards stopping the cycles in our own community.
